The Prettiest Dump EVER

A few weeks back (alright maybe it was a couple months back already) Grandy and her family took a trip along the coast with some friends. I thought it was time to finally load some pics from my camera and show you one of our stops.

We stopped at Glass Beach.

Glass Beach used to be a landfill. I don't recall what happened or how it happened (it was a blah blah blah thing) but the glass was broken down and the entire beach is made of glass.

People come from all over come and pick out beautiful pieces of glass of all shapes and sizes. It's not good to keep the glass, although some people were filling JARS. Really? If everyone did that, then there truly would be none left eventually.

Some people come to see the local creatures. They come from far and wide to catch a glimpse of the McCracken.

Oh stop...Really, that's the Grandy Hubby's rear...He never reads my blog so he doesn't know that I just posted his cute hiney on my blog. Scroll down now...nothing to see here.... really.

Actually, there will be a special place for me in Hell for me someday, simply based on the fact that I was trying to catch a picture of a real McCracken. It was B.A.D. and so was I. He showed crack even before he bent over.

Wait...what's this? A native exhibiting signs of lunacy by donning the tribal glass beads.

There's a rare picture of Grandy, sitting next to her dear friend "E". Dang it girl...you need to look at the camera next time. She was also enthralled with all the glass around.

For the record, we didn't keep any of the glass...we just enjoyed finding all the colors. It's kind of like a different kind of treasure hunt. It truly was a treasure hunt day because the small town nearby even had a Starbucks. See my little java there?

GOOD TIMES!!!

Am I the first to comment again? Wow! Anyway, as you probably know, I'm addicted to your blog. Seriously, you are an enjoyable read. I know, admitting is to first step to getting better. ;-) lol Anyway, I liked seeing the pretty colors of the glass, my two older children (5 and 7) would love that beach.

Beach glass is beautiful, but you're right--what if everyone took a jar home with them?

What an amazing beach. The glass looks terrific. Too bad you didn't get a shot of the real McCracken (it's okay we can visit each other in Hell, LMAO).

Nice to put a face with the name too!

Iced Starcrack...I knew I loved you :)

What a cool beach! I've never heard of it before. I can see why people are tempted to take some of it home, but like you, I probably wouldn't.

LOVE your pic ;)

My daughter would LOVE Glass Beach. I wish I could whisk her up there this weekend.

I never heard of a glass beach. I can't imagine taking the glass though. Wouldn't that defeat the original purpose of recycling it?

Grandy said...

phd~ Bring your daughter on by. :)

Travis~ I'm not sure it was originally "recycled".
