Y R S?

Blah blah blah... Grandy owes taxes... Blah blah blah.

Did I mention how much I love my hubby? I'm so glad he loves being self-employed. He's very happy with what he does, and that makes this Grandy a happy mama. Hubby works very hard as a truck driver. A couple weeks back I went with him for a day.

Yep! You guessed it! Grandy was a Mother Trucker for a day.

I don't know how these people do it? It's pretty hard work!! That, and I have to be appreciative when I'm driving on a weekend and see all these trucks still on the road. Hubby doesn't have to drive on weekends. We get to reserve those days for family fun time. For that, I feel truly blessed.

What has Grandy hosed a bit tense this tax day? A hefty flippin' tax bill, that's what. I love my hubby...I love him so...but I pay taxes throughout the year and yet...Holy macaroni BATMAN!!

When we sat with our tax person (because did I mention Grandy has a full time job and it's NOT as an accountant?) dear Hubby took it all in stride. Every year our accountant fears for my blood pressure as she gets such a kick out of our dialogue.

"Well Grandys, you owe $XXXXX this year." - She says cringing but looking only at hubby.

Hubby - "Really? Hey! That's not as bad as I thought!!"

Grandy - "Seriously?"

Hubby - "What, we kept good records this year."

Grandy - "Who the hell is WE?"

Hubby - "I know honey, I did a good job with the receipts...You're Welcome!"

Grandy - "Could I just have a moment here? I don't think I'm breathing yet."

Hubby - "What are you worried about honey? I know (Friend X) has to pay more than that."

Grandy - "So...does he contribute to OUR bottom line?"

Hubby - "Nope...but his bottom line's not as cute as yours."

Grandy - "You win."

He's so lucky he makes me smile. It took me TWO WEEKS to go through all the invoices and receipts he "collected" throughout the year, sort them, and key them onto the spreadsheet to make sure we had as much as we could.

Well...I return to work on Thursday. It's been officially 6 weeks since my surgery.

Somehow the song stuck in my head has never been more true...

"I Owe, I Owe, So off to work I Go!"

I hope you've never had to make the acquaintance of the AMT--then you'd really quit breathing.

Happy to hear you're all recovered. It's always great to get back to your real life. Although having a break fromn real life is always great too.

Grandy, yep tax time is a royal pian in the a$$ especially for us working class, and the poor.we support our government while the rich and the corporations pay little or no taxes. Mr. Warren Buffet last year sain that he only pays 14% on his money and he thought that it was not fair that the lower income people pay up to 25% of their incomes in taxes.
I got a great solution a one page tax paprer. first line how much did you make?
second how much did you pay?
line take 5% of what you made subtract what you paid. if you owe that's what you pay. NO LOOP HOLES. NO WRITEOFFS FOR THE CORPORATIONS,NO WRITE OFF FOR THE RICH.THE COUNTRY WOULD BE OUT OF DEBT WITH IN 5 YEARS.EVERY BODY WOULD BE PAYING THEIR FAIR SHARE.
THE ONLY PENILITIES WOULD BE IF A) YOU TRY TO HIDE YOUR MONEY IN AN OFF SHORE ACCOUNT(GO TO JAIL GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL DO NOT PASS GO)
B)IF YOU ARE A CORPORATION AND YOU SHIP SHIP JOBS OVERSEAS,(GO TO JAIL GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL,AND PAY THE WORKERS ALL THE MONEY THEY WOULD HAVE MADE IF YOU HAD KEPT THE JOBS HERE IN THE UNITED STATES)
What do you think, are you with me?

I went on the road in a truck a few times too...totally understand!!

I know how much you gotta pay in taxes, which does suck...but remember, it's only money...you have a wonderful family and friends who love you..which is worth way more than some stupid taxes...now if you could just find a way to claim your friends as dependents, you'd be set!! hehehe...

love ya my friend...and it was great seeing you all over the past weekend...I always miss you so much!!

A big "high five" for husbands who do our taxes!!! YEAH!!!
I am self-employed and my hubby works very hard at plugging this amount here and that amount here and let's try it over there...to see which way will get me to pay the least!!! I always pay, but this year he did good and I only had to pay about $400 (figuring loosly with the exchange rate!!)

I used to loooovvveee going with my daddy on the truck...he hauled cattle for a long time and then was with a "major discount company" and went all over the place. What fun it was to ride with him for a day or so!!!
Your husband sounds so incredibly nice...I bet he's real cute, too, huh?!?!?!
So glad you are feeling better and recovery is going good!!!

Grandy,

Your hubby knows how to argue!! You better keep him locked up. If he starts sharing his way with words with other men, women will never again win an argument. I'm not sure if that is a bad thing. I'm so confused. LOL
