Did you know there was a Science?

First, please forgive me while I digress for a moment.

I was so touched and moved by all the loving support and beautiful comments I received from my letter to Grandma. I want to thank you all for your words of encouragement. I wasn't sure about posting it out there for all the web to see, but it did make me feel better to write.

I thank you for being open to receiving it, apologize if it made you cry, but appreciate that I made you all feel. That means I did something right...right?

Now, it's time for some Grandy random silliness...

*********************************************************************

For those male readers...be warned...I'm about to talk about something girlie.

Although, it does involve some discussion on breasts...so you might want to read on after all.

Either way...don't say I didn't warn you.

Alright ladies! Talk to me now. What the HECK is up with shopping for bras? Have you had to get measured for one recently? Anyone??

Remember I mentioned I have lost over 50 lbs in the last year? Well, apparently 40 of them were in my breastseses. Ok, maybe not 40, but seriously? Could I have kept even just 1/2 of them?

Grandy realized it was desperately time to get some new clothes this weekend. It wasn't decided on her own. Hubby, Friends, Family, and even co-workers were giving me grief about my clothes. I guess it takes me a while to take a hint, but come on. I HATE SHOPPING!!

So...the Good News:
So, my butt finally fits in cute clothes you can find on the clearance rack.
I no longer have to shop in the plus size section.

And the Bad News:
My breastseses are also 2 sizes AND A LETTER smaller? - NOT Good

Did you know there's a science to measuring your size? You measure around the rib cage, and add 3", then you measure around the cup and add...ah hell...after about an hour of this mess, trying several different bras, and feeling like I now should have a masters in Bra science, I ended up leaving.

Yep, you guessed it...sans bra.

I'm going to have to go back to another store, where those women don't irritate me so. UGH!! I'm not holding out a whole lot of hope.

Hey...I've never STUFFED my bra. I could try that.

Nahhhhh... You're right. Grandy would have one of those moments and everyone would know. Everyone.

If any of you male readers stuck around this long...I thank you...and I'm sorry.

And for the rest of you, have you received your Masters yet??

It sounds like it was definitely time for new clothes! Find one bra that fits and just buy it in every color you need. And truthfully, Victoria's Secret does make some good bras.

I'm with Jenn - buy a ton of whatever you finally find that fits! I say this as someone *lucky* to be small in that area. Which translates to really not too much shape/size change even into my 40s with two kids. However, I've had my challenges! VS is still my favorite place and I generally try to hit their sales to stock up. But I do always have to try on a few until I find the one that feels the best. And I hate to shop too. Which reminds me...I have a coupon for VS that expires in two weeks.

Speaking of Bra, I came across this mall nearby (not so nearby, actually) and this Shop La Vie en Rose was selling their bra at $2.99 and it drives me crazy. Too bad, they don’t have my size that much. 

I was fitted at some point during the last few years and finally decided to look for bras that were supposed to fit. But I have a difficult time finding ones without padding (seriously, when you're a C, why the EFF do you need padding?). I do like VS but I hate going in there almost as much as I hate shopping.

Good luck. May The Force be with you.

I knew about this mainly because I am well endowed (want some?) and a good bra is like oxygen in my life-I can't live with out it. I just can't understand why they are so expensive.

It sucks when one loses weight and the boobs too! I'm on the path of losing weight but scared to lose my D's along with it!

Thanks for commenting my blog and you better be on my top droppers soon! hehe

I was measured once and then went screaming out of the store.

Congratulations on your weight loss. What a wonderful feeling, and when you fit into smaller clothes, it does take some of the sting out of shopping.

I walked into Victoria Secret..this woman gave me a letter and number I have NEVER worn..and I put it on and it's liked I died and went to boobie heaven..I kept feeling myself up..and still do sometimes..
Sure it was $40..but I LOVE my bra. The chicky said your boobs usually change sizes every 6 months

Bras...........they are the biggest pain in the rear, aren't they? Some days, I think that we should just go braless......after all, the men do it. :)

Seriously, I measured myself a while back, and fortunately, same old, same old. I pretty much stick to one bra manufacturer. Expensive, but very well worth it for comfort and fit.

Did I mention that I hate bras?

I'm glad a lot of people gave yo a bunch of love about the post about your Grandma. I really miss mine.

I agree with Jenn too. Find a bra that fits, and buy as many as you can. Sadly, most good bras are rarely cheap, but it's worth it rather than buying a bunch that you hate wearing.

And the boob loss. I can so relate. I started with a small cup size. Then breastfed for 18 months, and I practically have no need for a bra anymore :(

Bra shopping is worse than other shopping (and I hate other shopping). I'm so impressed with your weight loss, and you inspire me since I'm trying to lose about that much right now, too.

But I'm praying, praying that I lose a lot of my breasteses (that makes me laugh). I used to be a C, and I would love to go back to that.

I agree with everyone who said to find one and buy it in several colors.

I was fitted for a bra, two kids ago.

Perhaps I should go again? UGH! I hate bra shopping. ;)

Sigh - I wish my breasts were 2 sizes smaller, then I wouldn't look so much like that cow in my yoga post. But yes, getting measured is one of life's weirder experiences.

Grandy,

First of all - congratulations on losing 50 lbs!!

I'm embarassed to admit that I never did get my degree in Bra Science. I guess until I find one I like, then I buy a bunch. LOL

Good luck!

Tina

How does one apply for such a job anyway? **wink**

What?

I'm a guy! You knew a guy was gonna ask that question!

Mrs. F~ I think it was my belly that held the breastses up that maybe they just looked fuller.

Travis~ THANK YOU! I did know, and almost expected, a man to come by and comment like that. Thank you for making me right. :)
