This August it will be 4 years.
I've gotten better on anniversaries and and birthdays. Those are days I can keep to myself, they sneak up quietly and then pass by. Any angst I feel I am able to keep to myself.
This day... this one is difficult. There are constant reminders out there, advertisements, special gifts, balloons, cards, you name it. I try to tune it out, as best I can, but it all reminds me of you.
Happy Father's Day Dad!! I miss you so very much!! We had our challenges, as any father-daughter team does, but we overcame so much in our time together. You never realized how much we all loved you. I don't think it ever sank in...until the end. I'm so very grateful that you did finally realize how important you were to us. It sure took you long enough.
You would be proud of Mom, ya know. She's AMAZING!! Of course, you already knew that. You were married almost 50 years.
Now I'm going to take the day and spend it with Hubby. He's a great father in his own right, and deserves all the credits for doing so. I thank you for seeing that in him during moments I didn't.
Psst...wanna know what I got him? Tickets to Motley Crue Cruefest. Oh yeah...Grandy has scored some SERIOUS points with this gift.
Thanks Dad...Thank you for EVERYTHING!!
I LOVE YOU!!
Happy Dad's Day!!

So sweet Grandy :) Sending some extra *hugs* to you this Father' Day weekend.
p.s. Motley Crue Cruefest tickets? Dude, you rock!
Very loveley tribute for Dad and Hubby.
I told everyone that I didn't want a gift for Father's Day. I just want lemonade and an all day of sports watching...
I'm not a metalhead but Motley Crue tickets are still pretty awesome.
this aug will be four years since you lost your Dad I'm guessing sorry for your loss.this aug will make 24 years for me,since I lost my Dad.
Since this is the first Father's day since I have been blogging I put a tribute to him up on both my sites. if you are interested.I have links to each cite from the other.
Enjoy Father's day with the hubby.
That's my story.
What a nice tribute to your Dad! I hope you have a wonderful day with your husband.

Nice post. Mine is of a similar vein, but my Dad is still alive.
Cheers!
I don't guess you miss him any less just because another year goes by.
Sandy~ Yep...I know. Hugs back atcha by the way.
Jenn~ Thanks sweetie. I thoroughly enjoyed your tribute to your hubby.
Chris~ Did you get your wish for the lemonade at least?
Mike~ Is it any easier after 24?? It must be.
Cindy~ Thank you so much for your kind words, and for stopping by. :)
Joyce-Anne ~ Thanks lady!
Michele~ **Hugging you back**
Matthew~ Thank you! I'll have to go see your post.
Travis~ I don't, but I am much better at dealing with it.
So sweet and heartfelt. Four years is still so new...sometimes even six years is hard for me...but it sounds like your dad already knew how you felt about him. Actions speak louder than words sometimes. :-)
HUGS>>>>>>
Cheri~ Thanks! Thanks for stopping by too.
April~ Thank you sweetie. It took him until the end to realize it but he finally got it.
MP~ **HUGS BACK**
Very nice Father's Day post, Grandy! Tina
hey grandy....this was beautiful. the first time i read it, i wanted to comment, but...the words wouldn't come. my father passed away a year and a half ago...it's still really hard...I actually picked up the phone one sunday a few months ago and tried to call him....'cause that's what i always did.
i hope that you and your hubby had a good day....and really? Motley Crue? My brother would be all like "Dude! They Rock!"...which is really funny, 'cause he doesn't actually talk like that!!
have a wonderful weekend.
debbie
Tina~ Thank you fine lady. Thanks for stopping by.
dk~ You beautiful woman. I am sorry for your loss and SO GET IT!! The phone call, the waiting for him to come around the corner. I get it all. I miss him, but I pretend he is with me always. He's rolling his eyes at me as we speak. :)
