Do you have a Power Color?

Wow, it's been almost a week since I could come say hi to you all. Are any of you still out there? Very soon, everyone, it's going to get better. Very! Soon!!

That being said, as I try to take some time catching up with all of you today, I found this interesting Blogthing quiz over at Black Cats R Lucky and I wanted to share it with you. I haven't done these in a while, so I thought it might be fun.

Interestingly enough, it's not too far off from me. :)

Tell me what YOUR power color is.

Your Power Color Is Magenta

At Your Highest:

You energize yourself and push others to suceed.

At Your Lowest:

You feel frustrated and totally overwhelmed.

In Love:

You are suprised by who you attract. You're a love magnet.

How You're Attractive:

Open and free spirited, people want to explore the world with you.

Your Eternal Question:

"What is my next source of inspiration?"

Can we say "Wood" on the Internet?

I love me some Presidents! Why? Because...Hubby had to work and son had plans, so I got to totally catch up on some much needed blog reading and commenting. GUILT FREE!!!

I didn't actually keep track, but I think I'm in training for my 100 comment post marathon that comes up in ...oh...about 10 more posts!! I'm so thrilled to have caught up with all of you, and even some of you new ones!!

That being said, I have to tell you that when I typed last night's blog (yeah, just scroll down, I don't need the link do I?) I hadn't realized what glorious giggles I would get by the comments.

Do any of you realize how many times I made you all say "wood"? What does that say about my childish mentality that I'm giggling at the fact that we're making arguments about the fact that Hubby can't get me "wood" for our anniversary? UGH!! ROFL!!!

I have to leave town again tomorrow, so the next few days will be dicey in my ability to post. I will try, but if I can't, I'll at least try to check some of you out. Oh yeah...I am watching, even when you don't know it. :)

While I'm gone, I'd like to leave you with more WOOD! ;)

I think I get one of these for my 5th anniversary with the company...Say it with me people... OOOhhhhhh!!! AAAAAHHHHHH!!!! OHHHHHHHH!!!!! *small applause* (Possibly need to evaluate my current attitude...nah)
I have a couple of these, as Ty is quite the Boy Scout... I have 5 I think!!

Hubby SO WISHES we had one of these Sasquatch / Big Foot wood carvings in our yard. I can't explain why because I truly don't understand why, other than he knows it would irritate me to no end to have THIS in my yard.

Yeah, nothing says, "Welcome to the Grandy's" like Big Foot's A$$ staring at you from 100 yards away. NO THANKS!!!

I've missed you too!!

Wow...what a week!! Was traveling on business and then when I got home, lacked the energy even to BLOG! What's wrong with this picture? Well, to be quite honest, when I was home I just wanted to sit with the family. I know many of you agree with why I would do that.

I miss my blog and my blogging buddies when I can't write. I feel like you're all worried about me if I can't post for a day, but I realize it's been several days and I've not even had a chance to really check in on all of you. This...dear readers...SUCKS for me. Must...Get...To...BLOG!!

In two weeks is my 5 year wedding anniversary. Just after that, I'll be out of commission for several days (having a "procedure") and while recovering, I would love to BLOG!! But in order to do that...I NEED A LAPTOP!!

So, today Hubby asks me, "What is the 5 year anniversary gift anyway?" Glorious flashback to our first anniversary when he heard the "gift" was paper and had a picture of flowers emailed to me, so I could print it on paper. Oh yeah, that hubby is a clever man indeed.

My answer? A Laptop!! Seriously, this answer came off the top of my head and for some reason made me laugh so hard I was almost on the floor! I'm so lucky that I crack myself up. I think somewhere I read it was wood or silverware, but not needing either, I'm making the case for this (or something like it):

Readers, if you can help me in my argument at all, I promise it will help us all out!! You won't have to miss me for weeks at a time. How do I avoid the wood or silverware???

Share your comments...please!!!!

Grandy-Ology

Have you ever Googled yourself??

Well, having earned my degree in Theatre Arts, I quite often Google my old college friends to see what they are up to. I'm proud to say that many of them are doing quite well in their varying occupations.

So...what do I get when I Google "Grandy"?

Well we HAVE to start with Dear Ol' Fred Grandy. I am always asked if I am of relation to him, and I have to say, "Nope, not a Gopher!" Having married into this name, I can't say I've ever asked.

I didn't even know there were GRANDY OATS??? Who needs fiber? That's Grandy, she'll make you a regular something alright!!

Oh yea, and how could I forget this place? I have only ever eaten at this fine dining establishment BEFORE I met my husband. Now there's not one near me so I can even steal (ahem) "Borrow" a menu. How cool would that be to just give it to the Hubby and Ty with a note attached..."Self Serve"? Very cool indeed!!!

Wait...Do you see their motto on this sign??
HOT...FAST...FRIENDLY!!!

Maybe there is a relation there???

New Adventures Part 2 - Networking

Well readers, as part of my New Years resolution, I vowed to keep my blogging looking fresh and current. As you can see, I have some new very nice awards (psst...they're over there --> to the right --> somewhere --> Oh wait...scroll down a little...is it there?) and I want to thank everyone who has graciously awarded me with any award, or tagged me with a meme. I know that by tagging me with a meme, you are secretly trying to suck me into your misery because some of you loathe memes so, but I actually like them. It's fun!!

Many of you don't realize, but I had started blogging as a hobby to help alleviate stress (doctor's orders) and have some laughs in the meantime. You all are incredible people, and I can't believe how much I think about you all during the day (and not like stalker kind of thoughts...ok but maybe just a couple of you).

Well, I've found a great new community and I'm excited to meet many more bloggers (because hubby just can't get enough of my blogging time). I've signed up for...

View my page on League of Extraordinary Wives

**ACK! Ignore the mug shot in the middle. I really tried to make it smaller than most, but alas... I'm too much of a novice at the picture thing**

This is a community started by Miss Fussy Fussypants where you can meet other cool blogging women. Let's face it, with the exception of Mike Golch, I believe all my readers (or at least my commenters) have been women. I do realize, however, that if you are indeed a male reader, this may not be the best blog post to "De-Lurk" yourself, but please comment on another post so I know you exist. Again...I digress.

Anywho, this community isn't that old and already seems to be growing by leaps and bounds. I'm quite impressed with the amount of preparation that's gone into this.

Being a part of this will help me for my new crazy goal. Oh, I didn't tell you about my new craziness? It's not a BloMe1363 commitment or anything, oh no, this one is all mine. I'm not sure why I came up with it (or even if it's new so I apologize now if there's a copy cat thing goin' on) but a while back I read 100 Posts and Articles I've Dubbed Worthy of a Little Link Love, written by Amy Derby. Back when I was still VERY NEW to blogging, she reminded me to celebrate the little victories. She did this with her 100th post.

Well today's post is officially Post #86 for me. I have to plan ahead, and I really would like to do something a little different for my 100th post. I'd like to post 100 comments in one day, on 100 blogs and be able to post linky love for each post. In order for me to do that, I'm going to have to get busy with some networking because I actually don't even know 100 blog sites. I don't want to randomly pick blog sites that are crap, well, for the obvious reason. I won't be a blog hussy and post just because, but I have to tell you. This would be UBER COOL.

Yep...that's my goal...ready to watch my journey of craziness? If you haven't left a comment before, now would sure be the time so I can get you in. You regulars know I love you, so do as you normally do...comment away.

This should be the post of all posts!!

Some Crab and Some Meme

What is it about this time of year?

I was looking through a local magazine and noticed that from about the end of January to the end of March, every weekend there is a FEED.

Not a spaghetti feed, or a live feed, but the ultimate of all feeds...the CRAB FEED.

It's interesting to go to these fund raisers where people go and stuff themselves, all in the name of raising money. When you look at the above picture, you think it must be an exhaggeration. Readers, it's not. They bring you tray by tray of this stuff.

Tonight's cause? It was a group of ice skaters. I originally drove to babysit my sister's boys, so she & the hubby could go out, but he is sick with a cold and so I got to go in his place. Sorry...one man's cold is Grandy's tummy ache.

So, as I recover from the ample amounts of butter and crab, I might as well respond to this meme I was tagged with by good ol' Kelly O.

Name something you do everyday: Brush my teeth (I know, thank goodness)

Name 2 things you wish you could learn: Sign language (always been fascinating), organizational skills (I make the effort, but applying it daily is a struggle).

Name 3 things that remind you of your childhood: Summer evenings when it stays late forever (it gave new meaning to "in by dark"), Competative softball (there were years we played year round), and Jerry Lewis Telethon (Hated that damn show...school started the next day).

4 things you love to eat but rarely do: Mississippi Mud Pie (lost the recipe), avocado (I love a good ripe one but am not good at buying one), Crab (I know I know, but I only go to these once or twice a year) and lemon bars (again with the recipe, but this was one of the first things I learned to bake).

Name 5 things/people that make you feel good: I'm blessed with many people in my life, so I'll go with things, for the obvious reasons - A good hair day, pretty nails, fitting in pants that I haven't been able to wear for a while, ice-cold water.

I don't know that I'm going to tag anyone for this but I'm inviting anyone who wants to play, feel free. Just let me know when you're done so I can come check it out. :)

Something to Think About

Has anyone seen this article? I don't know if it's real or not, but it's definitely a great reminder that it's just NOT WORTH IT!!

Enjoy!!! TGIF!!!

***If you are having difficulty reading it, it says:

From the New York Times: Bosses of a publishing firm are trying to work out why no one noticed that one of their employees had been sitting at his desk for five days before anyone asked if he was feeling okay. George Turkelbaum, 51, who had been employed as a proof-reader at a New York firm for 30 years, had a heart attack in the open-plan office he shared with 23 other co-workers. He quietly passed away Monday, but nobody noticed until Saturday morning when an office worker asked why he was working during the weekend. His boss, Elliot Washioski said, "George was always the first guy in each morning, and the last to leave at night, so no one found it unusual that he was in the same position all that time and didn't say anything. He was always absorbed in his work and kept much to himself." A post mortem examination revealed that he had been dead for five days after suffering a coronary. George was proof-reading manuscripts of medical textbooks when he died. You may want to give your co-workers a nudge occassionally. The moral of the story: Don't work too hard. Nobody notices anyway.

Some Super Tuesday Gratitude

Today is Super Tuesday, although by the time you read this it could very well be Wild Wednesday, Happy Hump Day, or Wacky Windsday. Again...I digress.

In my family, we would always have very heated debates about politics (and not just about the fact that Grandy was constantly a smarta$$). My parents had their very strong beliefs and challenged us to have ours (except for the smarta$$ thing). And boy did we have our opinions and beliefs on everything.

Flashback to 1980 presidential elections. Little Grandy and her twin sister are interviewed on the local news station about who we will vote for for President.

Newslady - And if you could vote, who would you vote for?
Little Grandy - Mr. Reagan
Newslady - Why?
Little Grandy - Because that's who my mommy and daddy want to win.

(notice...pre-smarta$$ era) Remember...I was 8.

Dad was as political as they come. Without going into what and who he was passionate about, I could just tell you that at his funeral, there were many mentions of his political satire and sarcasm (wonder where I get the smarta$$ trait?). Even my son, after meeting me at my parents' house when he had died, bowed his head to pray. In his prayer, he asked God to remind Grandpa when it was election day so he could come vote. Hmmm...He was 8.

I've never really posted about politics because that's not what this blog is about. But as I am filled with Dad's memory in my first full presidential campaign without him, I am reminded of some simple things to be thankful for:
  1. I am grateful to Mom and Dad for helping me understand the importance of having a voice and casting a vote.
  2. I am grateful to be in a country where we are allowed to not only vote, but openly discuss differences and shortcomings without being judged.
  3. Regardless of anyone's political beliefs, I have to be grateful to witness history in the event of the first black man and first woman to run for president.
  4. I am grateful to Dad for teaching my son about his voice and opening his mind to questions, but I can't help but regret he can't be here to help me with the answers.
  5. I am so very grateful to my Mom who, as I start to ache and miss Dad, reminds me what a strong-minded woman she is in her own right. She's so articulate and strong. Her positive attitude is truly an inspiration. Today, she volunteered at the polling station.

Thanks Mom & Dad!!

Love you BOTH!!

Do You Respond??

Is there a right way or a wrong way to respond to comments?

Before I even started this blog I would notice that people handled comments differently. Some respond to comments, and some don't. Some get so many comments that they'd be crazy to try to keep up with them all (yes, I'm talking about you Mrs. G. ).

When I did research, a lot of spots said you should definitely respond. So...I do! But then I never know if people read the responses.

Recently I realized that some bloggers respond to comments via email to the commenter. Is that what we're supposed to do?

Readers, I do NOT want to be known as the blogger b*tch that never responds. I'd rather just be known as the b*tch period (not really, but I had to go there).

So I ask you...what's your preference in how to respond to commenters? Do you ever go back to a site you've commented and see if they've responded??

And...Mrs. G....since I've already issued you an excuse, I'm going to give you a different homework assignment (Sandy C you can play this one too). How the heck do you get so many comments?? ;)

Readers Vote!!

Thank you all for all your comments to my last post.

As I mentioned, I took many pictures of the same sunset, with different settings of my new camera to see what each setting did (remember I didn't have much time to read the manual) and I promised you all you'd get to see the different sunset pics. Now remember, these are all of the same sunset, taken within a few minutes of eachother.

So, I'm going to post a new "profile pic" for myself, and am letting you, the reader vote for which one I use. Everyone has a different opinion on what they like, and I like them all. That, and you've all been begging for me to post more...and larger pics. I think these are the largest ones I can post.

Now, you comment on which one you like...even you lurkers...and I'm going to go commit masicism by going to the grocery store on SuperBowl Sunday. Gotta love my planning!!
