Can I See Some ID?

Grandy mentioned back here that she is a bit of a success story.

One of the things she did not mention, is some of the things that go along with what happens when you lose a significant amount of weight. Some things that one would not consider.

For instance...when buying a drink (of the adult nature of course), or going to a bar with my friends...Grandy gets carded. Not a HUGE problem...except...when your license looks like THIS:

**No Neck...Several Chins**

The look of this pic. It's um...well...matronly. Maybe not "matronly" as much as a dear sweet friend said I looked like a LUNCH LADY. Don't worry, the bitch sweet girl is still my friend.

When the bouncers, servers, or anyone in general looks at my ID, they do about a quadruple check. Look at the card...look at Grandy...squint at the card...check Grandy out...hold card away from face and try to imagine that Grandy can ever be THIS Grandy.

Thank goodness Grandy's birthday is coming up soon, and it was time for a renewal.

Proudly stepping up to the counter, I explain I'm there to renew my Driver's License. Then the fun and frivolity begins...

Me: Hi, I don't have an appointment, but I'm due to renew my license and hoped I could do that today?

DMV Lady: (Try to imagine a 4 foot Margaret Cho looking lady with FAR less personality) It says here that you can renew by mail.

Me: Yeah, I get that...but I have this problem. ::hand her my ID::

DMV Lady: ::squinting at card...repeating same steps as above:: So what is it you need?

Me: I need to be able to buy liquor without someone thinking it's a fake ID. I'd like to NOT draw attention to the fact that I ever looked like that. Do you know what I mean?

DMV Lady: ::rolling her eyes:: Please fill out these forms.

Woo Hoo!! Grandy is on her way to putting THAT GRANDY behind her!! It doesn't even matter that the DMV Lady didn't understand her plight. She never would, because she had NO PERSONALITY!!

Who's up for a drink now?

**Collar Bones...my new favorite accessory**

Isn't customer service wonderful? It seems it'd be easier to just burn the old one (or cut it up and say a child was watching you cut up credit cards and decided to play along) and tell them you need a replacement - thus ending the need for an explanation to the personality-challenged.

Wow! Congrats! What a difference.

I will use you as my inspiration.

I get the same double takes when I get carded but it is because my photo is of the skinny me.

Plus it is over 10 years old.

I keep renewing online so they keep the "good" pic on my license.

I'm shameless.

*I also have hope that one day I will look like that girl again.

Wow Grandy!!

You look gorgeous! Seriously.

I'd have to say AT LEAST 10 years younger.

Being carded just makes for a good day. And a very nice tip. ;-)

What a huge (no pun) transformation. Grandy you are hot! And I don't even go for girls.

Whoot! You're a hottie! I don't blame you for wanting to get rid of the other one.

Way to go!

I was going to tell you how hot you were then everyone else beat me to it.

MEOWWWWWWW.

Wish my license looked that cool. I am totally up for a drink anytime. Even with my ID looking like me, I still get the quadruple take. I have to make sure to take my license with me to rated R movies as well.

That's so funny you and I went to the DMV within days of each other. However, I was pleasantly surprised how lovely two of the ladies I dealt with were. I had my children with me and even mentioned to my daughter that the person at the counter may be grumpy. However, they were kind and even smiled! I know what a shock!

I love your new picture!!!!

Holy Moly, you look great! I am in the same boat you were in; I've lost over 115 lbs in the past year and I look nothing like my DL picture. It expires next month so I'll be getting a new IMPROVED picture also!

Ahh when will I ever be asked for some ID, and then the person does a double take. I'd be so happy then. haha :)
